| George Bowling to Granderson

"This indenture made and entered into this 25th day of January, 1873,
by and between George Boling and Phoebe Boling his wife of the first part, and
Granderson Renner of the second part, all of the County of Rockcastle and state
of Kentucky.
"Witnesseth: That the parties of the first part hath this day for and in
consideration of the sum of sixteen hundred dollars to us in hand paid, the
receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, sold unto the party of the second part
a certain tract of land situated in the County of Rockcastle and state of
Kentucky on the Dry Fork of Skeggs Creek, the same land that the said Boling
bought of H.H. Baker, and bounded as follows, to wit:
"Beginning on a small white oak marked (A) just above the road opposite
where Josiah Hays now lives and in a line between said Boling and Thomas
Graves, thence S 34 ½ E 53 ¼ poles to three sugar trees Thomas
Graves's corner marked (B), thence N 68 ½ E 158 poles to a buckeye on the
bank of the Dry Fork of Skeggs Creek marked (C), thence N 17 ½ E crossing
the Dry Fork 95 poles to a large red oak just above where A.J. Boling now lives
marked (D), thence N 65 W crossing the Dry Fork 136 poles to a small white oak
in the old line between the said Boling and William Tyre marked (E), thence S
21 ½ W 182 poles to the beginning containing one hundred and twenty five
acres and fifteen poles, surveyed by John Wood.
"Also one other tract or parcel of land situated in the county and state
aforesaid and on the Dry Fork of Skeggs Creek and adjoining the above described
boundary of land and bounded as follows, to wit:
"Beginning at a dogwood near where A.J. Boling now lives on the west side
of the Dry Fork and near a large red oak in a line of the above described
boundary of land, thence N 65 W 96 poles to a dogwood and black walnut on the
bank of a drain, thence N 65 E 16 poles to a black walnut, thence N 25 E 80
poles to a white oak, thence S 75 E 52 poles to a redbud in a drain and in
Sally Henderson's old line, thence with her line to the beginning containing 40
acres more or less..." |

This land was near Sand Springs. Apparently, Granderson moved his home to this
spot in late 1874 or 1875, since he is living on today's Rank Cromer Road in
1874, but near Josiah Hays in 1875. This is the land where Granderson lived
when he made out his
will. His son Aaron
inherited this land. |
