Deed Book P, p. 549, recorded 17 Jan 1883.

This is a sample of the deeds Thomas made for some of his children. In addition to Kezziah, Elizabeth Ann Kirby, Lucretia McClure, Emily Jane Rash, and Jeremiah Kirby received similar 23-acre tracts, with similar verbage. Some of the land ended up in the hands of Jeremiah; he also had previously bought land from Thomas, as had James D. Kirby (he later sold it to Jeremiah, too).

Jeremiah gave much of his land to son James William Kirby, who sold it to W.M. Kirby, who sold it to Jerry Rash. The Rash heirs sold it to members of the Goff family, who own it today.

The land was located on the East Fork of Skeggs Creek just above the Wellhope Baptist Church.
