| John Linville to Alexander
Strong, 28 Nov 1865 |
This deed in unusual for the times in that it gives a history of the land's
ownership. This land was once part of the
Buckner grant. It
also places Malakiah Linville as once owning land on Line Creek.
"This deed of conveyance this the 28th day of Nov 1865 by and between
John Linville of the County of Rockcastle and State of Kentucky of the one part
and Alexander Strong of the same county and state of the other part.
"Witnesseth that for and in consideration of four hundred and fifty
dollars in hand paid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have bargained
and sold unto the said Alexander Strong a certain tract of land lying in the
county of Rockcastle, State of Kentucky, and on the waters of Line Creek,
supposed to be one hundred and fifty acres more or less, it being the same land
purchased of Malakiah Linville and by him from Reuben Bullock and by him from
Edward Taylor and by him from W.C. Isaacs and by him of Holbert McClure Sr and
bounded as follows, to wit:
"Beginning on W.A. Dyers line on the Mill Branch, thence about a east
course with Mayfields line to D.H. Minks line, thence with his line to Symsons
line, thence a north or northwest course to the Mill Branch and thence to the
beginning
